Bakersfield, CA (1/13/2015) – H&M Motorsports’ David Haagsma made his short trip to the WORCS season opener pay off by finishing second in the ATV Pro race at Honolulu Hills Raceway. Haagsma ran this race as a warmup before the defending WORCS champion he heads east to run the full AMA Pro Mountain Dew ATV Motocross National Championship.
Haagsma, who lives just 30 miles from the Honolulu Hills track, used his motocross experience to take the holeshot at the gate drop on the concrete pad starting line. Haagsma lost the lead to former teammate Beau Baron late in the event while in the pits, and challenged Baron, but settled for second.

“I got a great start,” said Haagsma. “I led the first half of the race, and Beau was behind me making up ground. I tried to make a charge, but he flat out rode me today. I’ve never had really good luck here, so to start out with a second is a good here.”
Haagsma isn’t running a full WORCS season this year, but carrying the No. 1 plate from his 2015 championship definitely drives him.

“It’s nice running that No. 1 plate,” said Haagsma. “I think it’s really driving Beau more than anything else. I’ll miss four rounds later this year, so I’m not running for a championship, but I still like coming out to WORCS and battling with Beau.”
